For June 26th [ 06.13.04, 2:35 p.m. ]

oh i'm so excited! tomorrow i start my new job! that means more adventures! ok, so maybe they're not called adventures.

last night i went out with katie and sarah. i guess we were supposed to go to the wall in narragansett but somehow plans ended up getting screwed up and we ended up at brewed awakenings. i was hoping to see candisto. no such luck. so we stayed there for a while. it was fun. there was bitterwinsker, elemina, sarah, katie, jill and this kid named adam. so everyone was from shaws except for adam. and me. cause that day was my last day there. HA! i was too tired to have much fun but the convo's were great. katie was funny ast usual, but tonight i think is a disney movie night. i feel like watching the little mermaid. ...

this morning's sermon was good. the parts i was paying attention to hear were. my sunday school teacher joel is going to the state house June 26th to protest the gay marriage thing. i wish i could go. i have a car wash to attend. lemme give you an article that i read this morning that made me open my eyes to the real danger of the whole situation.

this is taken from "The Good News in RI". the title of the article is "The Sin of Homosexuality in America" by Michelle Couchon:

Fellow Americans, we are presently engaged in a battle over the sacred union of marriage. The outcome of this battle will determine the course of America. If we win, we will merely have postponed America's eventual decline into darkness, but we will have won a victory for Christ and for the Kingdom of God. If we lose, the concequences will be grim and far-reaching. America will dare not call herself a Christian Nation anly longer, but will have become, in all aspects of the term, a Pagan society. Only then, when it is too late, will we begin the experience the ramifications of being a nation "no longer under God."

The abolishment of marriage, as we know it, will be the end of God in America. We will have succeeded, at long last, in dethroning GOD and placing MAN in the high seat of judgement, and subsequently, we will have created a new kind of freesom: the freedom to manipulate the laws to suit our needs.

We are doing far more than attempting to change the definition of marriage. We are, with this step, issuing a statement to the rest of the world that we in America have officially declaired God obsolete. By brazenly defying God's clear and concise law of what marriage is to be, we are essentially saying that we no longer recognize God or His Word as an authority. The line that separates right from wrong will then be erased, for there will exist no longer the Biblical standard by which, up to now, we have issued (for the most part) our juegements. In eradicating God and His Word, we eschew all laws, morals and values gleaned from the Bible, including all things that are good, noble, ethical, honest and virtuous; for who is to say any longer what is good and what is evil?

We must stand up for what is right...now. We must fight agains the evil that is invading our society...now. We can wait no longer, for we are but a hairbreadth away from becoming a totalitarian nation. You think not?

The next item on the enemy's agenda is to stop the preaching of the Bible, and it will begin with those scriptures declarign homosexuality is a sin; there will be a law passed forbidding the preaching of those particular scriptures which contain such "hatred and intolerance". the next goal will be to obliterate any and all reference to the "old, traditional ideas" of what marriage and family is supposed to be; our great-grandchildren will be raised in a nation far worse than Sodom and Gomorrah. Our freedom of speech will be censored, our Christian services will be monitored, and those dedicated Pastors who preach the Word of God will be arresded. Our beliefs will be labled "hate crimes", our Bibles will be confiscated, and our churches will be shut down.

We fight not out of hate and malice, as those against us would have people believe. We fight not out of bigotry and narrowmindedness, as those agains us will doubtless proclaim. We do not hate nor even dislike those who condone homosexuality, for we know homosexuality to be a sin, just as adultry, fornication, rape, murder, theft, and idolatry are sins. We do not claim ourselves exempt from sin, but neither do we attempt to change the laws to suit our sin nature.

We dare not stand idly by while others do away with what may be the last vestige of God in America.

Fellow Christians, now is the time to put on the armor of God and take up your positions at the front. Altough you may think you can do little, or nothing, to change the course of America, that hardly matters, for God still expects you to fight. Although you may feel that it is God's will for America to be plunged into darkness, that hardly matters, for God still expects you to fight. Although you fear the reprecussions if you dare take a stand against homosexuality, that hardly matters, for God still expects you to fight.

Remember the words of our Lord: "Blessed are ye, when men revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad; for great is your reward in heaven." (Matthew 6:11,12)

NOW LISTEN UP! A defence of Marriage Rally will be held on the south lawn of the State House on Saturday, June 26th between the hours of 12:00 noon and 4:00pm. the south lawn is the one that faces providence place mall. Mark your calendars! All who wish to take a stand for marriage as it was, is, and should be--Christian and non-Christain alike--should be there. Please encourage one another to make the time for what may prove to be one of the most important, historical events RI has ever known.
